We only met for four months, probably eight meetings. But we met and a Christian club was started.
I remember being inspired by an event held through my youth group at Wadsworth High School. It was called The Road. It was a combination of various youth groups within the Wadsworth area. My youth pastor had the honor to speak and I remember he talked about how awesome it would be if we brought Jesus into our schools. I was so incredibly excited and filled with courage. I remember the following day, I prayed for one of my teachers. I tried to pray for another, but she did not want to be prayed for. I still prayed for her though :)
Starting a Christian club at the middle school was constantly on my mind. I was talking with the high school advisor of the FCS, gaining resources, meeting with leaders from the high school, etc. Each time I was doing those things, I just remember the feeling that I was doing something important. I remembered working hard over the summer to get the club materials together before 8th grade started.
After a couple denials by the school board and a final "yes" with help from an amazing woman who I consider a second mother (among many other women in my life!) stepped in and volunteered to be our parent advisor so our group could officially begin.
After my friends and I left for the high school, I kept praying for the middle school. I wasn't sure how FCS was going to continue, but I knew and had faith that the seed that was planted at the middle school wasn't for nothing. It took another two years for an awesome middle schooler to go back up to the principal's office again to start FCS back up. Thankfully, he didn't have to jump through all of the hoops that we did when we were just getting started, and administration was 100% supportive of it. I found out through a pastor of a local church that it was starting back up. I was so proud and amazed with God that He was still watering the seed and growing middle schoolers at the school to follow Jesus.
FCS officially re-started last year. It's in its second year and is bringing kids and their friends. If you can see from the pictures above, it has tripled in size!
So Dustyn, I want to let you know that I accepted your challenge to bring Jesus into my school. And it worked.
